Whiteford Associates was established in 1978 by licensed architect and Traverse City native David W. Whiteford.  In 2019, after working with David Whiteford for over a decade as the firms lead construction manager, Mark McDonald acquired Whiteford Associates.   David Whiteford remains with the firm as the lead architect and consultant.   

Our mission is to provide the best architectural design and construction services in Northern Michigan.  We specialize in high-end quality homes and unique commercial projects.  Our designs have been featured in dozens of publications and we have completed over 700 projects locally.  The firm’s long term success is a result of not only meeting but exceeding our client’s expectations.
